The best part about moving to a new part of Orlando is exploring. Now that we aren’t living in an apartment complex and are in the heart of downtown, there is so much to DO. Our old apartment building was across from the mall down here, which was great and all but it didn’t really lend itself to a lot of activity…unless you wanted to go shopping every single day!
While I do love shopping (let’s be real here) I love exploring new places even more. We are so close to Lake Eola, the lake in the middle of downtown Orlando, as well as many bars, restaurants, cafes and cute little stores. Since we’re so good at procrastinating unpacking, last night we decided to continue exploring our new neighborhood.
First up was a gym trial. We are a couple of blocks away from a gym downtown and last night we headed over to check it out. I’ve kind of had my heart set on it since we moved down here, but I’m glad to announce it looks like Nick is just as in love with it too! I ended up hopping back and forth from the elliptical to the treadmill for a little and ran a little over 4 miles.
We’re planning on trying out one other gym before signing up sometime this weekend. I can’t wait to have a normal gym back in my life!
After the gym, we walked down the street to Dexter’s, a trendy wine bar and cafe that I’ve been dying to try since we moved to Orlando.
I’m not joking when I tell you that this was the best salad I’ve ever had in my entire life. The roasted potatoes, sun-dried tomatoes and onions were amazing and I couldn’t get enough. I’m not joking when I say that I’m already planning our return.
After dinner, we thought Bentley would appreciate some exploring as well so we leashed him up and walked him to the lake. Downtown is beautiful at night and he really enjoyed all of the
people dog-watching and attention he always gets from people. That dog is a total ham.
We ended the night in a lazy way by just laying on the couch and avoiding unpacking at all costs. As long as it’s done by this weekend, I’ll be happy!
