After a tough hot yoga class last night that kicked my butt and left me looking like I just jumped into a pool, I really didn’t expect to make it to the gym this morning.
But…when my alarm went off at 5:30 this morning, I jumped out of bed and got my butt to the gym. I have a busy night tonight and don’t know if I’ll be able to make it to yoga, so starting the day at the gym is the next best thing. I did 30 minutes of HIIT with a 10 minute cool-down. For my HIIT, I just alternated one minute of jogging with 30 seconds of sprinting. Let me just tell you that my legs are really loving me right now.
This week I’m really making an effort to amp up my protein intake, especially since I’ve been doubling up on workouts. Hot yoga alone burns a crazy amount of calories, but with running also in the mix I know I need to refuel my body with the best possible foods. So…fruit and yogurt for breakfast just isn’t going to cut it. (But I’m still eating it for lunch ALL the time!)
I’ve been reading Bess’ blog for a while and she raves raves raves about protein pancakes. Since I love 1) pancakes and 2)protein (usually), I decided to finally give it a go. Last night I followed her recipe and made a protein pancake to have for breakfast this morning. I love the convenience of already-made breakfast. Maybe this is why I love overnight oats so much. Anyways, this morning when I got home from the gym I topped it with a little Peanut Butter & Co. Bee’s Knees peanut butter, a banana and a drizzle of honey and voila.
Tonight after work I have my first Girls on the Run meeting and then the first softball game of the year for my company softball team. Even though I’ve never played softball before, I’m pretty excited because my co-workers are hilarious and any time spent with them outside of the office is a guaranteed good time. Let’s just keep our fingers crossed for me that I don’t accidentally throw the bat or get hit in the face with the ball.
Do this today:
Have a happy Tuesday!
