Happy New Year!

2012 was tough. 2013 was so much better. I can’t believe that 2013 has already come and gone but I am forever grateful for all of the memories that came from the past year! I took a nice little trip down memory lane earlier and spent a while going through all of my blog posts from the past year. Let’s take a look at the highlights of the past year, shall we?

January kicked off birthday month, and just like every other year, I spent most of the month celebrating my birthday and taking advantage of it! I turned 24, and I celebrated my birthday at the Maryland/Florida State basketball game with Nick. He also bought me a juicer that started my juicing obsession.

February brought about a few big moments for me. I finally tackled a real “adult” recipe and made the most delicious shrimp scampi for Nick on Valentine’s Day. I also registered for my first half-marathon! Oh, and I gave up sugar for Lent. Ouch.

March delivered yet another birthday in our house, this time for Bentley! He turned 2 and finally at the end of the month, I was able to eat sugar again. Froyo overload!

April was a special month not just for me, but for my entire family. The one year anniversary of my mom’s brain aneurysm passed and I wrote a post about all of the things she has taught me.  My best friend Becca and her boyfriend came to visit us too and we spent a fun-filled weekend with them soaking up the sun and out on the town.

May was a busy month for me but also held a huge surprise. I surprised my mom and flew up to Maryland to be with my family as she underwent her final surgery to get rid of the rest of the aneurysms in her brain. I also wrapped up my half-marathon training and prepared to run the biggest race of my life!

June was one of my favorite months of the year. I proudly ran my first half-marathon, took up hot yoga and we began the hunt for a new house!

July was full of fun times and really kicked off the chaos that I endured over the last half of the year. I attended my first blogger meet-up in Orlando and had a blast! My little brother and his girlfriend came to visit us and to top off the month, we moved!

August brought us even more visitors as Nick’s birthday came around. A group of our friends from Maryland came to celebrate his birthday with us and we had an absolute blast. Nick’s sister came to visit us right after and to top off the month, my mom made her first visit to Orlando too!

September started with the beginning of Girls on the Run for me. We took a small road trip to Jacksonville where I took part in the ZOOMA Inspired Yoga & 5K event. I also got to meet Allison! The month ended with another trip back to Maryland for my cousin’s beautiful and amazingly fun wedding!

October delivered not one, but two celebrity encounters for me! I was invited to the opening of fitness apparel store SIX:02 where I got to meet celebrity trainer and one of my idols, Lacey Stone. I also spent a weekend in Gainesville/Tallahassee where I met Olympic gold-medalist Ryan Lochte in a bar. On a more serious note, I began working with Robyn to restore my metabolism, which was one of the best decisions I made all year.

November kicked off all things holidays, and I ran my first turkey trot in Maryland with Nick’s mom and sister. We spent 5 days in Maryland to celebrate Thanksgiving with our families. In what is most definitely my coolest blogger moment yet, I was featured on The Lifestyle Accountability site in a podcast.

December absolutely flew by for me, probably because I was so darn busy the entire month. I concluded my Girls on the Run season with the OUC 5k in downtown Orlando and was so proud of my little girls. We also attended my company holiday party where I won the company dance-off. I traveled to Nashville with my girl friends to celebrate my best friend Becca’s birthday and fell in love with Nashville in the process. We spent the final 10 days of the month in Maryland celebrating the holidays with our friends and families before coming back to Florida right before the new year!

Obviously, 2013 was an incredible year. So much changed, many milestones passed and a ridiculous amount of fun occurred. Here’s to 2014! May it be even better than the last year!
