First of all, I want to say thank you to all of you for the birthday wishes here, on Twitter, Instagram and through texts. The constant well-wishes kept a smile on my face all day long on Friday!
I had such a great birthday weekend. I took the day off on Friday and it was the first time in a long time that I had a free day with absolutely no obligations. Such a nice feeling! I started the day off with a 80 minute hot yoga class at my local studio. It was pretty much exactly what I needed and I left feeling relaxed, calm and of course, sweaty!
Friday night we had plans with my soon to be new boss and soon to be new coworker and met up with them and both of their fiances for happy hour. It was nice to get to know them more before I start next Monday and I also fell in love with grapefruit shandy. If you like grapefruit, this is the beer for you. Trust me!
Saturday morning started off a little lazy. Nick brought me Starbucks in bed which I drank while browsing around on Pinterest. I wish I could start every morning like this!
Not long after that, I went to the gym for some cardio and abs action. I did 20 minutes on the elliptical, 10 on the arc trainer and 15 on the bike. I followed up with a plank workout that I’m going to hopefully post this week!
After some more errands and chores, we got all cleaned up to head out to Hillstone for my birthday dinner! Nick chose three places he wanted to take me and let me choose the final spot, and I am so glad I chose Hillstone. Not only was the food incredible, but the view was amazing. We sat outside on the patio and it was just gorgeous.
We split a bottle of red wine that was so, so good. It was a little on the fruity side, which I love. We ordered the spinach and artichoke dip to start and I’m pretty sure it was the best spinach and artichoke dip I’ve ever had.
For our entrees, I ordered a Thai noodle salad with chicken and Nick ordered the filet. Asian salads are my favorite and this one didn’t disappoint! My favorite part was the chunks of fresh mango. I always forget how much I love fruit in salads!
But the star of the night was easily the chocolate brownie sundae. Y’all know how much I LOVE chocolate/sugar/ice cream. This was perfection.
I feel like my face in that picture speaks enough. Brownie+ice cream=happiness.
Sunday was pretty typical. Farmer’s market, grocery store run, and prep for the week. We went to one of Nick’s coworkers’ house for the Super Bowl and ended up leaving at the end of the 3rd quarter. That was by far one of the most boring games I’ve watched in quite some time (not NEARLY as good as last year’s game! ).
And that’s that! Now I’ve got to get to work on my to-do list for the day. After work I’m going to hit the gym for cardio, abs and hopefully upper body. See ya later tonight!
