Spring has definitely sprung down here in Florida. I know that most of the country is getting hit with a major snow storm today, but it’s hot down here. We’re lucky if we get a week or two of “winter” weather down here, and we definitely reached our allotted amount of cold weather over the last few weeks. Now it’s warm and we’re experiencing “spring”. Don’t hate me, I promise there is a point to this other than showing you the pretty flowers that have just started to bloom outside our house.
Anyways, with this sudden spurt of hot weather, I feel like my eating habits have changed. Since it’s hot down here for about 90% of the year, I find that I do eat mostly “cold” foods. I drink iced coffee regularly. Overnight oats, smoothies, salads…most of my food is NOT hot. In fact, I made stuffed peppers for dinner last night and was sweating in our kitchen because the heat from the oven and the heat from outside was too much for me. Hot oats are practically a luxury for me because it’s rarely cold enough for me to enjoy them. So that’s why you may see some interesting meals popping up over the next few weeks. It’s been a while since it’s been consistently hot and I’m getting back into the swing of things. Starting with breakfast this morning.
Cold apple cinnamon Chobani, cold cinnamon apples, and cold walnut almond cashew butter. I’m still loving that stuff, by the way.
My workout last night was nothing you haven’t seen before.
- 15 minutes elliptical
- 15 minutes arc trainer
- 15 minutes bike
I focused on the resistance levels a lot and by the end of my time on the arc trainer, my legs were on fire. I put the resistance level up t0 50 and maybe I’m just a wimp, but it was tough. I resisted the urge to snap a sweaty gym selfie because I didn’t want to be that girl yesterday. 🙂
Followed it all up with a nice walk with Bentley and this abs workout that I love so much.
I want to go for a run after work tonight, but I just heard we’re supposed to get some rain later in the day, so we’ll see. I’ve pretty much been winging it on the workout front this week and so far, so good.
Okay. Off to work! I’ve got a lot to do today in preparation for my last day in my current job on Friday. Happy Wednesday!
